Black Headed Gulls are on the red list of threatened wildlife. Here in Northern Ireland weβre quite used to seeing them around our coastlines, but probably didnβt appreciate just how endangered they are.
This Black Headed Gull is on her nest with 3 chicks that are less than a week old. Donβt worry, I used a long lens so I didnβt disturb them!
Letβs hope mum can raise the chicks successfully and grow their population once again.
Hi and thanks for your interest! Iβm Neil and I started Blue Lens Photography UK, photography by Neil R Finlay, back in 2016 when I had been suffering from PTSD, Anxiety and Depression. After being unable to continue in my employment, I picked up a camera again and returned to my first love of Natural History. It wasnβt long before I was afforded the opportunity to become a Volunteer Photographer with the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (in Northern Ireland) at its Castle Espie centre.
