This is a marvellous, Golden Eagle.
It might have the appearance of calling out with its bill open, but it is actually panting, like a dog, to try and cool down on such a warm sunny day. Days like this one are rare in Northern Ireland! The Golden Eagle is the largest bird of prey in Northern Ireland and with seven thousand feathers, thereβs no wonder it is panting!

Hi and thanks for your interest! Iβm Neil and I started Blue Lens Photography UK, photography by Neil R Finlay, back in 2016 when I had been suffering from PTSD, Anxiety and Depression. After being unable to continue in my employment, I picked up a camera again and returned to my first love of Natural History. It wasnβt long before I was afforded the opportunity to become a Volunteer Photographer with the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (in Northern Ireland) at its Castle Espie centre.
