This strange thatched oddity is The Crannog. It is a purpose built bird hide at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) Castle Espie site. Situated in Co. Down, Northern Ireland, it is one of the most beautiful places to visit with all sorts of wetland birds, woodlands, swamp and sensory gardens.
Hi and thanks for your interest! Iβm Neil and I started Blue Lens Photography UK, photography by Neil R Finlay, back in 2016 when I had been suffering from PTSD, Anxiety and Depression. After being unable to continue in my employment, I picked up a camera again and returned to my first love of Natural History. It wasnβt long before I was afforded the opportunity to become a Volunteer Photographer with the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (in Northern Ireland) at its Castle Espie centre. I only volunteer a short time each week, but itβs important for me to feel that Iβm giving something back and for a charitable cause close to my heart.
