Description
The Spirit of Great Britain is the name on this Avro Vulcan Bomber, registration XH558. It was bought from the Ministry of Defence by the Vulcan to the Sky Trust and was privately funded through charitable donations of mostly the British public, restored to airworthiness and flown across the UK in air shows. Sadly, it reached the safety limit for air frame fatigue a few years ago and is now 'hangared' for historical education and viewing. The lucky few can book a runway speed taxi, but she will not fly anymore. Avro Vulcan Bombers also flew missions in the Falkland Island Conflict of the 1980's.
Photographed in County Down, Northern Ireland.
